how keyword research can increase your traffic

Do you do keyword research? 

 

I've seen how effective knowing keywords and the 

amount of search traffic they get can help your 

website or blog. 

 

For example, when I was running my proofreading 

business I worked very hard to rank for key terms 

like "essay editing" and "thesis editing". 

 

I also optimized my site for local search, 

creating pages to specifically target phrases like 

"sydney proofreader" and "melbourne editor". 

 

As a result of this work and the search rankings I 

achieved, 50% of the customers to that business 

came from search. 

 

Yeah, that's right. That business was basically 

profitable because Google sent me free customers 

because I spent some time checking keywords and 

changing my website pages accordingly. 

 

WHAT ABOUT BLOGS AND KEYWORDS?

 

Today over 50% of my traffic to my blog comes from 

Google search. I'd have half the audience I do 

now without search engines, so obviously keywords 

REALLY matter.

that currently ranks for that traffic.
