The Fight Against Corruption Call for Assistance

The Fight Against Corruption

REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE

To all those in support of fighting corruption; it is with a very heavy heart that we write this letter.  Our efforts to fight and stand against corruption and support whistle-blowers, has been an incredibly long and difficult road.  Our commitment to standing firm on the values of honesty and integrity and making all our voices heard remains steadfast and will not waiver!

However, in saying this, The Fight Against Corruption (TFAC) - a non-profit organisation without any formal funding or sponsorship - finds itself in dire circumstances.  We have been trying to get funding in to continue our efforts, but to date have not been successful.  For the past 4 years, we have funded TFAC entirely out of our own pockets.  Without financial support, this has inevitably caught up with us.  In order for us and TFAC to remain afloat, we need to appeal to all those who support our efforts and believe in what we can accomplish in combatting and exposing corruption, to please assist us with any financial contribution you can make.

Every and any financial contribution will help us move forward, no matter how small it may be!

Let us also share with you some of TFAC's most recent accomplishments, this having being achieved with little or no external financial resources.

TFAC were the first South African organisation to be listed as members with UNCAC (United Nations Convention Against Corruption).  This was achieved in June 2009 and through this recognition, and our continued efforts, T.F.A.C has been called upon as experts in the field of corruption and whistle-blowers. To this end, we have participated in numerous television and radio inserts in this capacity.  TFAC has been called upon regularly to comment and participate in published newspaper articles relating to corruption issues. We have successfully assisted in reporting numerous cases of corruption and gross abuse of power to relevant authorities for further investigation and action, with many positive outcomes been achieved.

Our vision for combating and exposing corruption has been endorsed by some of the foremost minds in South Africa and from around the world, namely Adv. Thuli Madonsela (Public Protector); Mr  Terry Crawford-Brown; Archbishop Makgoba; Professor Danny Titus; Adv. Paul Hoffman, Anatoly Yakorev to name but a few. More of such endorsers of our work and vision can be found on our website at www.tfac.org.za

We are also proud participants to The World Without Corruption Programme; a programme supported by the United Nations.  To this end, we have also alerted one of the foremost authorities on corporate governance research in South Africa, namely CGF Research Institute (Pty) Ltd about this programme and who has also been appointed, similar to TFAC, to promote anti-corruption practices throughout South African businesses and organisations.  (See www.un-wwc.org and www.cgf.co.za )

These are just a few areas TFAC have been involved in; and the reality is that whilst many of our citizens of this country seek a corruption-free country, the truth is that there are few that are willing to stand accountable to drive this message.  As many of you will know, TFAC and its founders are truly committed to continue this war against the scourge of corruption, which has been described by the Irish rocker, U2's star, Bono, as "the biggest killer of them all!"  He said, "Everybody here knows that the biggest killer of them all -- a bigger killer than AIDS, TB, malaria, probably the lot together -- is corruption."

We continue to seek funding to realise our vision for our National Integrity Award and Good Governance Award Banquet to honour our moral and ethical heroes and organisations that stand firm on the values of good governance and anti-corruptive business practices.

All these issues remain close in our hearts and in the forefront of our plans for TFAC.  These are the bare facts and right now, we need to be bold and honest and say that without your help, we are at a loss.

Should you wish to assist in any way, please feel free to contact us directly, or view our website (www.tfac.org.za) for any donations you wish to make to our banking account. (Standard bank – Bayside branch code: 022209; Trust account number: 271106409; Account name: T.F.A.C. (The Fight Against Corruption).

As a special gesture of our appreciation, and unless you do not wish to be specifically named (either as an individual or organisation), TFAC will open a special page on our website which will list all our financial sponsors / donors relative to this call for assistance.  TFAC will only list the name of the sponsor / donor and specifically not the value of the contribution.

Yours in the fight against corruption.

Sincerely

Marko and Debbie Vogler
